Hello and thank you for visiting my website, I'm Chef David. I am a retired Real Estate Broker, former marketing professional, husband and an enthusiastic foodie. I come from a long line a fantastic cooks. My mother is a wonderful cook and her mother and father before her whipped up some of the best tasting food that I have ever put in my mouth.
Some of my fondest childhood memories include visiting my grandparents in Cincinnati, OH and the tastey meals that they fed us. Old world recipes influenced from their combined German, English and Dalmation heritages and the flavors of Cincinnati. Like five way chili and goetta, yum!
The first time my mother allowed me to use the stove I was about 10 or so. I cooked up bacon and scrambled eggs in a cast iron skillet over a gas flame on our 1950's era natural gas stove. I'm sure that I splattered grease all over the stove and burnt the eggs (I remember having to soak the skillet for some time), but it was my first exposure to the art of cooking.
I remember begging my parents to let me start mowing the grass at the Toad Stool Inn restaurant at age 11. The Toad Stool Inn was an old established restaurant and bar that specialized in serving crispy southern fried chicken, hash brown potatoes and green beans. All cooked in pure lard! It wasn't long before the owners had me doing prep work inside of the restaurant. Boiling potatoes, emptying crates of fresh chicken into iced coolers and grinding bags of cabbage for coleslaw. This is when I really got my feet wet in the cooking arena and began my love affair with food.

Retirement can be a boring time. Once the yard work and housework have been done, there is little else to do until dinner time. Oh yeah, I try to make it to the gym everyday, but that works the body and does little for the mind.
So, I got this bright idea to put all of my tried and true recipes in writing. And while I'm at it, I might as well publish them on the Internet for all to enjoy. That's really what this is all about. Hopefully, you will try one of my recipes and enjoy the dishes as much I do. Please endulge me though, this is a work in progress. Be patient, everything will all come together in time.
